Community Guidelines
Last updated: January 2026
To keep Orif-Trolley helpful for all families, we ask that you follow these simple rules when contributing to our community database.
1. What makes a "valid" receipt?
To be accepted by our system, a receipt must:
- Be recent: Please upload receipts within 7 days of purchase. Prices in Ireland change fast!
- Be legible: Ensure the store name, date, items, and total price are clearly visible. Avoid blurry photos or extreme angles.
- Be itemised: We cannot process "summary" credit card slips that only show the total. We need the breakdown of items to help the community compare prices.
- Be authentic: Only upload receipts from your own genuine shopping trips.
2. Supported retailers
We currently focus on supermarkets and household retailers operating in the Republic of Ireland (e.g. Dunnes Stores, Tesco, SuperValu, Aldi, Lidl, and more). Receipts from international retailers or non-grocery services may be rejected.
3. "Clean" uploads
While our AI automatically strips personal data, you can help us by:
- Folding the bottom: Feel free to fold over the part of the receipt showing your signature or the last 4 digits of your card.
- Not "double-dipping": Do not upload the same receipt multiple times or from multiple accounts.
4. Zero tolerance for "price gaming"
To protect the integrity of our savings calculations, the following are strictly prohibited:
- Fraudulent uploads: Using Photoshop or digital editing to alter prices.
- Spamming: Uploading non-receipt images (photos of pets, scenery, etc.).
- Commercial scraping: Using the app to gather data for commercial or competitive purposes.
5. Reporting errors
If you spot a price in the app that looks "too good to be true" or is clearly an error, please use the "Report Price" button. Community moderation is what makes Orif-Trolley work!
6. Consequences for violations
Orif-Trolley's price data is only useful if it can be trusted, so we take these guidelines seriously. Depending on the severity and frequency of an issue, breaching them may result in a warning, removal of the affected receipts or price reports, or having your access to community features restricted. We review reported content and accounts on a case-by-case basis.
